UNR To Get $20M Arts Facility

The University of Nevada, Reno is planning a $20 million fine arts building with a museum, recital hall, practice rooms and electroacoustic lab.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that officials say they have already secured $19.3 million in donor gifts and pledges for the project, which will increase art space at the growing campus.

School of the Arts Director Larry Engstrom says the new space will help attract top students and faculty and fits with the university's push to grow science, technology, engineering, arts and math programs and transform Reno into a college city.

Construction of the building is expected to be completed in 2017. It is scheduled to open in 2018.
