LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say a man who was fatally shot by an officer late Monday came out of a house with a gun while three other people were being taken into custody in a robbery investigation.
Officer Larry Hadfield said Tuesday the man pointed the handgun at an officer, who opened fire. The man was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The shooting a little after 8:30 p.m. on a street near Alexander Road and Walnut Road was the second involving police in just a few hours in northeast Las Vegas.

It wasn't far from a neighborhood near Las Vegas Boulevard and Craig Road where a woman with a handgun and a shotgun was shot and killed by SWAT officers after an hours-long standoff.
Hadfield says the cases aren't connected.
