Elementary School Student Makes False Kidnapping Claim

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — North Las Vegas police says parents need not worry as an elementary school student's claim of an abduction attempt was unfounded.

Administrators at Jesse D. Scott Elementary School sent parents a letter on Tuesday describing a report of a man encountering a fifth-grade student in a park after classes let out. According to the letter, the boy was pulled into a vehicle during the encounter.

On Wednesday, police confirmed the department's investigation is closed and that the claims were unsubstantiated.
