Democrat David Parks Seeks 3rd Term In Nevada Senate

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Longtime Democratic lawmaker David Parks says he'll seek a third term in the Nevada Senate.

Parks announced Wednesday that he's running for re-election to Senate District 7, which includes parts of Henderson and unincorporated Clark County and leans heavily Democratic. He previously served for 12 years in the Nevada Assembly.

Parks said the state made big strides this spring toward improving public education, but needs to keep building on those gains by improving higher education and raising wages for middle- and low-income Nevadans.

Bills Parks introduced this year included measures to combat bullying, add police officers and revise Nevada's anti-discrimination laws. He served on the government affairs, natural resources and finance committees.
