Child Dies Of Flu In Southern Nevada

Health officials say a child from southern Nevada is the fourth person to die from the flu in the state.

The Southern Nevada Health District said Wednesday that the child was under the age of 5.

A woman over 50 years old also recently passed away in a flu-related death.

Last week, the first deaths reported for the 2015-16 season included two men over 60 years old.

Nevada's health department said no other deaths have been reported in the state, but that the numbers are statistically in line with past years.

A small number of deaths are reported in the early weeks of a flu season, between October and December.

Such deaths are more common between January and May, so it's not too late to get the flu shot.
