CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval is reviving some state-level homeland security efforts.
The Republican governor issued an order Monday re-establishing the Homeland Security Working Group, which will include up to 30 public safety experts and government representatives appointed by Sandoval.
The group will select projects eligible for federal funding through State Homeland Security Grant Program. Final approval will come from the Governor's Commission on Homeland Security.
Sandoval announced Tuesday that he'd appointed Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison to the commission, which is chaired by the governor himself.
Hutchison said he was grateful to be appointed at a critical time when Nevadans need leadership and security.
The news comes less than a week after terrorist attacks in Paris that killed at least 129 people.
