One of the seats on the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents will be up for grabs.
Kevin Melcher, who represents District 8, announced Friday he's not running for re-election next year.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports Melcher and his wife plan to move to Reno after his term concludes. It's where he's originally from.

He also said he did not want to file for re-election because he did not plan on finishing a second term if elected, and announced his decision now to give potential candidates enough time to prepare.
District 8 covers part of Clark County, along with Elko, Eureka, Humboldt, Lincoln, Nye and White Pine counties.
