Taxicab companies in Las Vegas are beginning to use a new smartphone app to compete with ride-hailing companies like Uber and Lyft.
The Las Vegas Review Journal reports the app, called Curb, works much like how the Uber or Lyft apps work on one's smartphone.
Users request a cab to get them at a certain location, and the taxi arrives to pick them up.

Curb users can also reserve a taxi to pick them up at a certain time.
The app works currently with Frias-owned cabs and is expected to be rolled out to other companies' cars in the coming months.
