LAS VEGAS (AP) — The former operator of the bitcoin online poker site "Seals with Clubs" was fined $25,000 and placed on up to two years' probation on Tuesday for operating an unlicensed interactive gaming system.
Bryan Micon also surrendered 3.0996 in bitcoin credits, another $900 in cash and several computers as part of an agreement reached in July on the felony plea.
He faces up to 2½ years in state prison if he violates terms of the sentence.
Defense attorney Richard Schonfeld says the 37-year-old Micon intends to eventually move to Antigua.
Nevada gambling regulators and state Attorney General Adam Laxalt announced in April what they called the first-of-its-kind prosecution dealing with bitcoin and illegal Internet gaming.
They said Micon operated the site for almost a year before he was charged.
