Group Of Mormons Plans Resignation From Church Over LGBTQ Policies

Among a growing backlash to recently announced policies concerning LGBTQ members of the church and their children, a group of Mormons is planning to leave the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Saturday.

The New York Times reports a self-described "mass resignation" from the church will take place in Salt Lake City near church headquarters.

The rules causing this furor were leaked last week, and concern same-sex relationships.

Under the new rules, persons in same gender marriages are considered apostates and may be excommunicated from the church.

Additionally, children of parents in same gender relationships are no longer able to be members of the church until they become adults, leave their parents' homes and renounce same gender relationships in their own right.
