Southern Utah To Get Medical School

Southern Utah is getting the state's second medical school.

The St. George Spectrum reports a branch of the Rocky Vista College of Osteopathic Medicine is set to open in Ivins, a suburb of St. George, in August 2017.

Construction is set to begin this January.

The school says it will set aside a set amount of positions for Southern Utah and Dixie State universities' graduates for admittance.

It hopes to enroll 125 students its first year and 250 the next.

The only other medical school in the state is at the University of Utah.
