Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe Resort Hopes To Open Next Week

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Officials with Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe are hoping to be the first ski resort to open this year, with a goal of opening next week.

KRNV-TV reports that Director of Marketing Mike Pierce says temperatures only need to drop slightly lower at night before the resort can start to make snow.

Pierce says the plan is to open Mt. Rose on Oct. 29, which is next Thursday, though the opening is ultimately up to the weather. He says the temperature needs to dip below 32 degrees for more than four hours to make snow.
