Governor Removes Key Parking Spaces At Nevada Capitol

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada governor's office is removing several key parking spaces outside the state Capitol.

The Nevada Appeal in Carson City reports that Gov. Brian Sandoval's chief of staff confirmed late last week that between seven and eight spaces at the north side of the Capitol are being eliminated.

Chief of staff Mike Willden says Sandoval's request was made for safety reasons but did not go into more details.

Carson City officials confirmed the request came from the governor, not statehouse police.

The curbing around those spaces has now been painted red.

The spaces on Musser Street were frequently used by people dropping off items, tour buses ferrying visitors and vendors delivering vending machine merchandise.

Now, people making deliveries will likely have to park up to two blocks away.
