GOP Assemblyman Erv Nelson Will Run For Las Vegas Senate Seat

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Republican Assemblyman Erv Nelson will be running for the southern Nevada Senate seat currently held by fellow Republican Mark Lipparelli.

The Nevada Senate Republican Caucus announced Wednesday that they were endorsing Nelson for the Senate District 6 seat. Lipparelli was appointed to the seat in 2014, and caucus officials confirmed he will not seek to retain it.

The move sets up a primary with fellow freshman Republican Assemblywoman Victoria Seaman, who has announced she'll seek the seat.
