CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Drought and what to do about it will be the focus of a three-day conference this week hosted by Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval in Carson City.
The governor's drought summit on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will feature reports from workshops around the state about costs, effects and successes dealing with the record regional dry spell now in its 15th year.
Drought Forum panelists heard from farmers, businesses, state officials, interest groups and casinos.
Federal weather expert Roger Pulwarty of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's drought information system and state Climatologist Douglas Boyle are due to start Monday's session with an overview.
Boyle reported last month that Nevada's summer was wetter than usual, but winter mountain snowpack was below-normal.
Many accounts have 2014 as the warmest calendar year on record.
