FBI Drops Investigation Into North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee

Police and the mayor of North Las Vegas say the FBI has dropped a probe stemming from a request that detectives remove images from a tablet computer that Mayor John Lee suspected showed child pornography.

A department statement cited "lack of prosecutorial evidence."

Lee said Friday he knew he didn't do anything wrong, but wanted an independent investigation and is relieved the case is closed.

The new North Las Vegas police chief, Alexander Perez, asked in May for the FBI to review how the department handled Lee's October 2014 request to clear images from his iPad.

Lee said he didn't know how they got there.

A newspaper reported in May that browser links on Lee's computer showed at least one website displaying possible child pornography originating from a foreign country.
