Las Vegas Names Two Parks In Memory Of Officers Slain In 2014

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas is naming parks for both local police officers killed during an on-duty ambush in June 2014.

The City Council this week approved naming a recreation area to be built in the Skye Canyon development in northwest Las Vegas for Officer Igor Soldo.

The council in June voted to rename a park in the Centennial Village area for Officer Alyn Beck.

Beck and Soldo were at lunch at a pizza shop when they were shot and killed by a man and a woman who had espoused anti-government views.

The couple went to a nearby Wal-Mart and killed a 31-year-old shopper, Joseph Wilcox, before they died during a police shootout.

Beck was from Wyoming, married, with three children.

Soldo was originally from Bosnia and was a married father of one.
