RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nevada wildlife officials say a black bear killed in Incline Village Tuesday was becoming increasingly dangerous.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that Nevada Department of Wildlife spokesman Chris Healy says the 9-year-old, 450-pound male was tranquilized and then euthanized after being captured late Monday or early Tuesday.
Healy says the bear has been raiding trash, breaking into cars and knocking over fences. He says it was becoming more aggressive in its search for food.
It is the fourth bear killed as a threat to public safety in Nevada so far this year. Healy says two were killed near Gardnerville and a third near Genoa. They had all broken into homes and were considered a threat to human safety.
Healy says people should make sure bears don't have access to garbage.
