An airport manager says the Federal Aviation Administration is partially to blame for the state's drone industry not taking off as many predicted it would.
The Nevada Appeal reports Reno-Stead Airport manager Mike Dikum said the FAA was more reactive than proactive, and was slow to make rules.
He said this may be partially why the industry hasn't taken off in Nevada, one of about a handful of test sites the FAA designated last summer.

The FAA grants exemptions for drone operations. Dikum said 1,244 were issued as of Aug. 18, with 400 of those approved in the month before.
He said the state is exploring opportunities to expand its drone industry, including possible agreements with NASA.
