RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nevada Department of Transportation has reopened State Route 447 after the road was closed due to erosion last week.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that the section between Wadsworth and Gerlach reopened Sunday after flooding and erosion closed traffic in both directions.
A report from NDOT shows that the damage had caused as much as a 20 foot drop off the side of the roadway. Crews worked nonstop through the weekend to replace more than 6,000 tons of earthen material to fill roadside shoulders.
