The shooting happened at about 1:30 p.m. at the couple's home north of the Cannery Casino Hotel and police say the two were the only ones home at the time.

The Clark County Coroner's office has not identified the woman, who was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The AP sought comment on the charges from Mattox, but couldn't verify whether he had a listed telephone number or an attorney.
