Phil Ivey Knocked Out Of World Series Of Poker Running

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Poker star Phil Ivey is out at the World Series of Poker's championship no-limit Texas Hold 'em main event, joining actors James Woods and Jennifer Tilly and others who fell during their second day of card play.

Ivey's pair of nines were no match for another player's kings Thursday.

Queens, three-of-a-kind and a pair defeated Woods and Tilly on Wednesday. Chris Moneymaker, who boosted poker's profile with his 2003 win as an amateur, also was knocked out.

Player Jorryt van Hoof, among the final nine last year, was eliminated Wednesday night, too.

Thousands of players started their second day of poker playing Thursday in hopes of winning the main event's nearly $7.7 million prize when the final nine players return in November.
