NDOT says crews will be building a drainage culvert under the freeway to house a conveyor system.

That system will be used to move nearly 6 million cubic yards of earth and save time by not having to move it all by truck.

The Carson City Freeway Project is expected to be completed in 2017. It is aiming open up 4 miles of freeway to traffic.
