LAS VEGAS (AP) — A small plane that lost power made an emergency landing at Lake Mead after taking off near Las Vegas.
Authorities said the Saratoga plane left North Las Vegas Airport around 4:40 a.m. Monday and was headed to El Paso, Texas. Around 5 a.m., the plane landed on a beach about three miles northeast of Hoover Dam, or about 30 miles southeast of the airport.
There were four people on board and minor injuries were reported.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane reported losing engine power before the emergency landing. The downed plane's left elevator, left wing and landing gear were damaged.
The Clark County Fire Department responded but found the plane intact with no fire reported.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
