Nevada Unemployment Rate Drops In May, Barely

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada's unemployment rate has dropped for the first time this year.

The state's Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reported Wednesday that Nevada's jobless rate dropped to 7 percent in May, down from 7.1 percent recorded since January.

January's 7.1 percent was a 0.1 percent increase from December 2014's 7.0 percent. It was the first month-over-month increase the state had seen in more than four years.

The last time Nevada saw an increase to its unemployment number was in 2010, when the rate was nearly twice as high.

Since then, the unemployment numbers have generally been falling or holding steady.
