Nevada Says No Drought Conditions In Mesquite

ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — Despite the severe ongoing drought in much west, Nevada officials have confirmed that the city of Mesquite is in great shape and is not suffering from drought conditions.

The Spectrum in St. George, Utah, reports that Nevada state engineer Jason King says the city and the rest of the Virgin River basin has not been impacted by the drought.

Virgin Valley Water District general manager Kevin Brown says all of the Virgin Valley's water is groundwater. VVWD also has service rights on the Virgin River it leases to a couple golf courses for irrigation.
