Marijuana Grow Facility Okayed For Carson City

CARSON CITY (AP) — A medical marijuana cultivation facility is coming to Carson City.

The Nevada Appeal reports the city's Planning Commission approved Tahoe Hydroponics Co. for a special use permit Wednesday.

Dan Salerno and Walt Owens voted in opposition of the facility, citing that marijuana is still a prohibited drug under federal law. They also voiced concerns over the facility being a potential burden on the city's Sheriff's Office.

Only one letter of opposition among more than 30 nearby property owners has been submitted. The letter cited impact on property values and raised security concerns.

The new facility will take over an existing building owned by Arrowhead Partners, LLC.
