Las Vegas Seeks Solutions To Tourist Traffic On Strip

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Getting from point A to point B in Las Vegas can pose a challenge.

The 4-mile, glittering Las Vegas Strip corridor flanked by casino-resorts easily turns into a clog of cars, taxis and flocks of walking tourists depending on the day and convention in town that week.

Las Vegas lacks mass transit linking its airport to its tourist hub and leaders are aiming to fix that with a long-term transportation blueprint that suggests building a light-rail system that could be partly underground.

The average travel time for drivers and carpoolers to get to work in the area is below the national average according to data researched by The Associated Press. Mass transit travel times are higher, though, at nearly 58 minutes, about nine minutes more than the national average.
