LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas high school sophomore says administrators denied her application to form an anti-abortion club on campus and lawyers are demanding the Clark County School District reverse its decision.
The non-profit Thomas More Society legal group said in a letter sent Thursday to West Career & Technical Academy and the Clark County School District that the decision violated the free speech rights of student Angelique Clark.
The group says Clark applied to start a Students for Life club on campus but was told by the school's vice principal it was controversial and students on the other side would feel left out.
The Clark County School District says in a statement it's reviewing the facts, noting all clubs must have a faculty advisor and Clark's club doesn't have one.
