LAS VEGAS (AP) — A light-rail train traveling below the Las Vegas Strip is among options transportation leaders are looking at as the destination prepares for millions more tourists in the next 10 to 20 years.
The group representing nearly every transportation interest in Southern Nevada released its draft Transportation Investment Business Plan on Wednesday.
The plan says a light-rail train system below or above ground could connect hotels on the Strip to McCarran International Airport in 10 to 20 years.
There's no mention of funding which will be determined before a final plan is released this fall.
Short term plans include adding taxi staging areas, pedestrian bridges and monorail stops.
The draft plan doesn't suggest linking the existing monorail to the airport but recommends extending it to a future high-speed rail station.
