Despite Conflicts, Assembly GOP Optimistic As Session Closes

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada Assembly Republicans say they can overcome past differences and work together to pass Gov. Brian Sandoval's budget by the end of the session.

Republican Majority Leader Paul Anderson says he's optimistic that the 25-member caucus will be able to band together to support a funding mechanism for the governor's $7.3 billion budget.

The caucus will need to overcome personal and policy conflicts that have dominated headlines throughout the session, including Assemblywoman Michele Fiore cursing at a colleague on the Assembly floor.

Anderson says he hasn't counted support for any revenue package yet but believes the caucus can overcome a number of anti-tax conservatives and work with Democrats to help fund the governor's budget.
