Former AG Catherine Cortez Masto Announces Plans To Run For Sen. Reid Seat

Former Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto announced Wednesday she plans to enter the race for Sen. Harry Reid’s seat in the U.S. Senate.

Reid announced two weeks ago that he would not be running for re-election. He told KNPR’s State of Nevada that he had talked to Cortez Masto about running for his seat.

Cortez Masto served as the attorney general from 2007 until 2015, when she was term limited out of the position. She has been working at the Nevada System of Higher Education since leaving the office in January.
