New Plan To Protect Southwestern Willow Flycatcher

Two federal agencies have unveiled a plan to protect and restore habitat for the southwestern willow flycatcher, a small bird that nests along river corridors and is an endangered species.

Covering six southwestern states, including Nevada, the plan by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service involves working with ranchers and other landowners.

It will also help 83 other species in the riparian systems and, federal officials say the effort will ultimately result in healthier ranges and more productive ranches.
