CEO To Leave Las Vegas Region's Economic Development Group

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance says CEO and transportation expert Tom Skancke is leaving the organization April 30 to seek new endeavors.

The group's chairman, Ray Specht, said in a statement sent Saturday that Skancke had been preparing to leave for several months after accomplishing what he set out to do as the organization evolved from the Nevada Development Authority into the economic alliance.

The group says Jonas Peterson, its president and chief operating officer, will lead the organization.

The organization's aim is to diversify and improve southern Nevada's economy.

The group hired the high-speed rail advocate and transportation strategist in November 2012 and renewed his contract for another two years last October.

In the statement, Skancke doesn't reveal what his next step might be.
