Paws for the Cause returns to Friendly Ford October 20, from 11 to 3. The Animal Foundation will have dogs looking for a forever home, and kittens, too (they'll go fast). If you aren’t ready for a new friend but want to help out, drop off new or gently used blankets or other donations from their wish list and get a coupon for a free drink and appetizer, courtesy of PT’s Taverns. Free microchipping will be offered on site.
Clark County Wetlands Park has guided walks, talks, and programs every month. Some require advance registration. Quite a few are for kids, such as Nature Tales, which includes a story and a craft. Guided walks are for ages 10 and over. Also, art classes for all ages.
The Butterfly Habitat at the Springs Preserve lets you see a good mix of butterflies flying around and interacting with the plants they need and which need them as pollinators. You might learn something, sure, but really just seeing the butterflies is enough of a reason to go. Admission to the Butterfly Habitat is $2 for members, $3 for non-members.
The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas is in desperate need of sheets, blankets, towels and such to use for bedding for their cats and dogs. Gently used or new items can be dropped at the shelter every day between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. They would also like to connect with housekeeping departments for regular pickups of donated items.
