Members of Southern Nevada Paiute tribes will be at the Springs Preserve on Saturdays in October to share examples of their rich culture. There will be basketry and beadwork, traditional plant foods, and drumming and dancing.
The Nevada State Museum in Las Vegas presenta a new exhibition celebrating the extraordinary artistry of costume designer Pete Menefee through December 31. A multiple Emmy-Award-winning costume designer, he is famous for his work with musical superstars, variety productions, and Nevada’s costume-spectacular stage shows. There are photographs, stage costumes, and original costume design renderings.
The Mob Museum in downtown Las Vegas will host a program with Cathy Scott October 20, starting at 1 p.m. Author and journalist Cathy Scott has had a front-row seat at many of Las Vegas’ most notorious murders over the past 20 years. She will share gripping backstories from many of Southern Nevada’s high-profile killings.
This exhibit shares the extraordinary stories of Anne Frank, Ruby Bridges and Ryan White - three children whose lives teach us about overcoming obstacles to make positive differences in the world. It encourages children and families to explore issues of isolation, fear and prejudice.
