Members of Southern Nevada Paiute tribes will be at the Springs Preserve on Saturdays in October to share examples of their rich culture. There will be basketry and beadwork, traditional plant foods, and drumming and dancing.
The Southern Nevada Rock Art Association meets on the fourth Monday of every month, starting at 6:30 p.m., in the REI store in Boca Park. Admission is free and anyone interested in rock art is invited to attend. There's usually a program on rock art and/or archeology, most often local or regional.
Science Cafe Las Vegas meets on the first Wednesday of each month, starting at 6:30, for a lively discussion of a specific subject. (You might want to brush up before heading out.) There's beer, but the event is okay for those under 21.
You're invited to tour of the Flamingo Water Resource Center on November 4. Inspect the community's largest wastewater treatment facility and learn how they treat wastewater and return it to our environment. Advance registration required, by November 2.
Relax in the "Village Square" at the Center for Science and Wonder. Take a dish or bottle of wine to share and, if you have song in your heart, take your favorite instrument. Share a story. Enjoy an old fashioned Village Social. Doors open at 6 p.m. It's behind the PTs restaurant in the southeast part of the parking lot.
Keep Memory Alive at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas hosts "Lunch & Learn" talks most Wednesdays from noon to 1:00. Most often they cover topics of interest to those serving as caregivers to people with dementia.
