Jewish Genealogy Society meets on third Sunday

The Jewish Genealogy Society meets on the third Sunday of the month at the Sahara West Library, starting at 1:30. They usually have a program devoted to some aspect of genealogy. Non-members are welcome to attend.

The library is at 9600 West Sahara Avenue. Their number is 507-3630.

Nevada Southern Railroad Museum has train rides

The Nevada Southern Railway Museum in Boulder City offers train rides in old Pullman coaches every Saturday and Sunday (with modern air conditioning during the summer). Trips go to the Railroad Pass Casino and back, taking about 35 minutes.

Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada helps with home repairs

The nonprofit Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada provides home repair, accessibility modifications and energy conservation services for low-income homeowners, particularly seniors, people living with disabilities, veterans and families, individuals and multigenerational families.

Nevada PEP helps children with disabilities

Nevada P.E.P is non-profit group whose mission is to assist families with disabled children. The agency provides information, training, referral assistance and more. The disability categories they assist with include learning, emotional, autism and vision and hearing loss.

Foster care information sessions

It’s amazing what a life-changing moment it can be when you choose to open your heart to a child in need of a temporary home!  There are approximately 3,000 children in the care of the Clark County Department of Family Services, ranging from toddlers to teenagers. Some are in foster homes and others need foster homes. Find out how you can help at a foster care info session.

Hosts needed for international exchange students

Ongoing

ICES is looking for families in Southern Nevada to host high school students (ages 15-17) from other countries for the upcoming school year. Students must be provided with their own bed and a place to study, plus two meals each day. They have spending money and insurance.

Project GREEN works for Pittman Wash

Ongoing

Project GREEN: Friends of Pittman Wash is a volunteer group in Henderson working to make inprovements to Pittman Wash.

Their Steering Committee meets on the third Wednesday of every month in the Silver Springs Recreation Center, starting at 6 p.m. The group also holds walks in the wash and other events.
