Rape Crisis Center in Las Vegas looking for volunteers

Ongoing

The Rape Crisis Center in Las Vegas uses male and female volunteers, ages 21 and over, to assist sexual assault victims. Volunteers assist the staff of the center by answering crisis calls around the clock, making referrals for victims and others who are seeking assistance, and more.

C5 volunteers work to save free-roaming cats

The Community Cat Coalition of Clark County 1s an all-volunteer organization working to save feral and free-roaming cats through a trap, neuter and return program.  C5 can use folks to help with the trapping and returning; caring for cats pre and post op, and co-ordinating with members of the community.

Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions has cats, can use volunteers

Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions is a Las Vegas based non-profit devoted to finding homes for cats. They have cats to adopt on some weekends at area Petcos and PetSmarts and a cage-free adoption facility. They can always use volunteers, especially folks to be foster parents for kittens and cats.

Nevada Southern Railroad Museum has train rides

The Nevada Southern Railway Museum in Boulder City offers train rides in old Pullman coaches every Saturday and Sunday (with modern air conditioning during the summer). Trips go to the Railroad Pass Casino and back, taking about 35 minutes.

CASA looking for volunteers to help kids

The Court Appointed Special Advocate  Program in Las Vegas is looking for volunteers to work as advocates for children in the foster care system. Volunteers are appointed by judges to advocate in court and other settings on behalf of children who have been abused or neglected,  Volunteer orientation is held the third Wednesday of every month from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.

Foster care information sessions

It’s amazing what a life-changing moment it can be when you choose to open your heart to a child in need of a temporary home!  There are approximately 3,000 children in the care of the Clark County Department of Family Services, ranging from toddlers to teenagers. Some are in foster homes and others need foster homes. Find out how you can help at a foster care info session.

Hosts needed for international exchange students

ICES is looking for families in Southern Nevada to host high school students (ages 15-17) from other countries for the upcoming school year. Students must be provided with their own bed and a place to study, plus two meals each day. They have spending money and insurance.

Desert Spring United Methodist Church, in Summerlin, is looking for new voices from the community to join its choir, which performs traditional hymns and anthems and works by classical music composers at Sunday church services. Project GREEN works for Pittman Wash

Project GREEN: Friends of Pittman Wash is a volunteer group in Henderson working to make inprovements to Pittman Wash.

Their Steering Committee meets on the third Wednesday of every month in the Silver Springs Recreation Center, starting at 6 p.m. The group also holds walks in the wash and other events.
