The Springs Preserve is offering a groundbreaking, 6-week series about designing gardens from the bottom up. Classes will cover everything needed to assess a site and design a garden using nature as your guide. Classes will meet Jan. 27, Feb. 3, 10, 24, and March 3 and 10 at the Springs Preserve. You don't need to take all of them.
The Wetlands Park in Las Vegas has guided walks, talks, and programs every month. Some require advance registration. On Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. there's a talk on aquatic insect biodiversity in wetlands and urban communities, including how mosquitos are controlled. The Southern Nevada Rock Art Association meets on the fourth Monday of every month, starting at 6:30 p.m., in the REI store in Boca Park. Admission is free and anyone interested in rock art is invited to attend. There's usually a program on rock art and/or archeology, most often local or regional.
Canyonlands Field Institute is offering a full day Desert Wildflower Seminar exploring the wildflowers around Moab, Utah on April 21. You can learn to identify, and appreciate, those flowers you've always wondered about. The field trip will be led by Moab biologist and wildflower expert Joel Tuhy.
