"Finding Frémont: Pathfinder of the West" highlights Lt. John C. Frémont’s 1842-44 expeditions to Oregon country and Alta California, Mexico, to map and describe the Oregon Trail. These heroic journeys established Frémont as the “Pathfinder,” and set the stage for his public service as soldier and politician.
The Southern Nevada Rock Art Association meets on the fourth Monday of every month, starting at 6:30 p.m., in the REI store in Boca Park. Admission is free and anyone interested in rock art is invited to attend. There's usually a program on rock art and/or archeology, most often local or regional.
You can get your documents/photos of historical interest scanned for free as part of National Preservation Week April 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Paseo Verde Library. Staff members will scan your items and provide you with information about preservation techniques.

The Henderson Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly networking breakfast May 8. The presentation will be "The Value of Internships to Employers and Company Workforce Planning,” with Bradford Glover of the College of Southern Nevada, Nicole Wesley of Nevada State College and Las Vegas Councilman Steve Seroka. The breakfast will run from 7 to 9.
