On the plate: Dining events and new restaurants in the valley

American Craft Distillers Festival
Feb. 7-9. You’ve heard of microbrewing, but what about microdistilling? The American Craft Distillers Festival celebrates the art of the craft spirit. This three-day event features whiskey, rye, bourbon, vodka, gin and moonshine brands — and yes, craft beer — and brings together consumers, whiskey masters and brand ambassadors with tasting experiences, mixology classes, dinner and more. Tickets will also include mixology classes, pot still demonstrations, educational seminars, culinary noshing and live entertainment. At the Golden Nugget. Tickets $49-$173.

Splendor in the Glass

Feb. 8. Now in its 25th year, Splendor in the Glass is one of the valley’s premier wine- and beer-tasting events, featuring a live auction, live music, hors d’oeuvres and a live cooking demonstration by Chef Charlie Palmer.  Best of all, the event benefits PBS. Tickets can be purchased online or at Vegas PBS, Lee’s Discount Liquor, Total Wine & More and Whole Foods Markets. 3p-7p, $85.

Cocktail-making class
Feb. 12. Double Helix’s new cocktail-making class aims to teach you how to make both modern and classic cocktails while catching a buzz yourself. For the month of February, the class appeals to those with a sweet tooth: The Feb. 12 class will teach attendees the art of the White Chocolate Martini and a Lemon Drop Martini. Guests also get recipe cards to create their own buzz at home. 7p. Tickets $30. In Town Square. 702-735-9463
