The Alexander Dawson School, in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada, runs an affordable pay-as-you-go summer camp program for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Open to the public, the camp utilizes more than 15,000 square feet of indoor space, including the gymnasium, a large game room, cultural arts center, acting lab, science center and dining hall, as well as multiple outdoor fields and playgrounds. At 53 acres, this park offers a plethora of amenities, such as lighted ball fields, basketball and volleyball courts and multipurpose fields, roller hockey, lighted skate park, walking course, barbecue grills, covered picnic shelters with picnic tables and a playground. The Anthem East Trail runs along the McCullough Mountain Range from the park to Shadow Canyon. For the first .75 miles from the park, the 7-mile trail is paved, but then becomes a dirt surface. Named Outstanding Park in 2011 and 2012 by the National Softball Association, this 56-acre park with entrances at American Pacific and Santiago Drive, features a sports park, lighted ball fields and basketball courts, disc golf, bicycle terrain amenities, open turf area, a playground, dog park with agility elements, horseshoe pits and covered picnic shelters. A bridge connects the 4-mile-long paved scenic Pittman Wash Trail to Union Pacific Railroad Trail and Cornerstone Park. At approximately 120 acres, Centennial Hills boasts two dog runs, a walking-jogging path with interpretive signage highlighting the historical significance of the area, a fossil wall, an amphitheater offering grass seating for more than 3,000 guests, two water play areas, playgrounds — one of which has ramps and features for all abilities — two concession stands and picnic areas. The park also has 10 sand volleyball courts, two soccer fields and open space. 6 a.m.-11 p.m. daily.

One of North Las Vegas’s newest sites, this 11-acre park offers features for young and old alike, including playground units, jogging-walking track, lighted tennis and basketball courts, a T-ball diamond, two horseshoe pits, six bocce courts, as well as a demo garden, shade structures, picnic tables, barbecue grills and restrooms. Located near Maryland Parkway and Pebble Road, this southeast park features a skate park with a shade structure for beginner to intermediate levels but also includes some advanced-level aspects. Additionally, visitors can play basketball, bocce, horseshoes and tennis, as well as enjoy a walking course, spray pool, playground and picnic areas. 6 a.m.-11 p.m. daily.

A lighted skate park and basketball courts, walking course, playground, splash pads, barbecue grills, covered picnic shelters and tables, a walking course, an open grass area and a dog park occupy this 18-acre park. The trailhead for the Amargosa Trail is also located here. Although still being constructed, this 4-mile asphalt trail runs from Ione Road and South Eastern Avenue to Richland Hills Avenue and Paseo Verde Parkway. Once completed, the trail will present educational kiosks and interpretive signage on the native wildlife and plants. One of the newest parks in North Las Vegas designed as a children’s athletic facility, this 22.3-acre park includes open space, play units for two age groups, exercise stations, walking-jogging trails, lighted tennis courts, two lighted Little League baseball diamonds, three lighted youth soccer fields, a basketball court, group shelters, picnic tables, barbecue grills and restrooms. This $5.9 million park project located within the upper plateaus of the Lower Las Vegas Wash Detention Basin offers approximately 14.7 acres consisting of a lighted baseball diamond, soccer field and basketball courts, as well as a walking-jogging trail, skateboard element, shaded and lighted playground, desert landscaping and shade structures. It also serves as the trailhead for the city’s multiuse 70-mile Regional Trail System. Park: 6 a.m.-11 p.m. daily.

The crown jewel of Clark County parks with an expansive 325 acres, Sunset features a lake for fishing, more than 200 rare Mojave Desert plant species and an abundance of wildlife. It offers numerous urban park amenities, such as tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, softball fields, and disc golf and fitness courses, interpretive walking-jogging trails, a water play splash pad, playgrounds, a remote-control boat facility, a dog park, amphitheater shaded picnic areas, barbecue grills and plenty of open space. A fitness program for moms and their babies, Stroller Strides classes offer moms a total body workout while their babies are engaged in songs and activities in their stroller.
