"Red": a poem by Joseph Langdon

Red

By Joseph Langdon

rocks evolve pink spots leprous

the antecedent names

cleft/canyon

being before meaning

patchwork cliffs aspire

invasive

the well-trained stubs of spring

alien round green mounds of burro dung

the carters’ unnatural

hoof-scrape stitches up the desert silent

In one red image stamped

a boot unmakes the face of God

counter-evolutionary

on

down

into the long wash

Joseph Langdon is a writer living in Las Vegas.
