What good old days? When political capital in Nevada tilted unduly north. Assembly Speaker Emeritus Joe Dini talks to the Reno Gazette-Journal about those good ol' days when Republicans and Democrats worked together and children laughed and unicorns lactated chocolate and all that stuff that didn't really happen. Generous interview, if a bit one-dimensional:
“Everything that I worked for, what we worked for, is going to get cut, and I don’t like it,” said Dini, who last served as speaker in 1999. “Look at rural mental health. When (Bob) Miller was governor, he cut (clinics) back and closed some. It took 10 years to get them back. Now, they are going to cut them again, and it will take twice as long to get them back, if ever.
