The American Lung Association in Nevada helps teens and adults to quit smoking, we work to prevent tobacco use in youth, and we advocate for a smoke-free environment.
We provide nationally recognized and proven smoking cessation programs, Freedom From Smoking, for adults, and Not-On-Tobacco, for youth. We also provide training in brief tobacco dependence intervention for health care providers. For more information call Richard Davis at 702-431-6348.
You Can Help by Providing Goods:
We are looking for the following in-kind donations to support our Teens Against Tobacco Use program. Students from area high schools use a peer-led model to teach elementary students to avoid tobacco. These informative and interactive presentations focus on the effects of tobacco, peer pressure and tobacco advertising, and the positive aspects of being tobacco free. Since the teens meet after school, they are often hungry and we like to provide snacks. We are looking for:
-individual bags of chips/pretzels/crackers
-Individual bags of cookies
-Individual bags of fruit rolls up, fruit gummy snacks etc.
-Fruit juice boxes/pouches
-Any other snack type food for teenagers. No perishable foods please.
- Gift cards to local grocery stores, Wal-mart, Target etc so we may purchase the snacks ourselves.
If you can help out, please contact Novlette Mack at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at 702-431-6333. Thank you.
You Can Help by Volunteering:
The American Lung Association in Nevada is seeking community volunteers to train as facilitators for ALA's premier adult smoking cessation program, Freedom From Smoking. ALAN encourages members of the African-American, Latino/a, LGBT, Native American, and mental or behavioral health, and substance abuse recovery communities to train as FFS facilitators because these communities are disparately impacted by tobacco use. This 1 and 1/2 day training is offered at no-cost to participants and will include the facilitator manual, lunch, break snacks and all the training needed to successfully facilitate the program. The training will be held at Aid for AIDS Nevada (AFAN), at 701 Shadow Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89106, on September 23-24, 2010, 8:30-4:30 and 8:30 to Noon. Contact Richard Davis at 702-431-6348 or email@example.com to register. Space is limited, so please register as soon as possible.
