Isabelle Faust on violin for Prom 8: Invitation to the Dance

Every summer since 1895, orchestras have performed casual classical concerts, known as Proms concerts, in the heart of London.  The tradition is underway right now – it began with Frist Night on July 19, and it runs through the famous Last Night of the Proms on September 14.  SymphonyCast will present highlights of the 2019 Proms concert season beginning this week with “First Night” and continuing for nine weeks.  Make sure you join us!  Listen to SymphonyCast Wednesdays at 9pm or Saturdays at 5pm on Classical 89.7 KCNV.

AUGUST 14 & 17: Prom 8: Invitation to the Dance

Dance – whether in the exotic pulse of Bartók’s Dance Suite, the insistent Russian folk rhythms of Stravinsky’s The Firebird or the languorous ballet of Debussy’s faun – runs right through tonight’s Prom.

Peter Eötvös conducts his new violin concerto Alhambra – performed here by the work’s original soloist, award-winning German violinist Isabelle Faust.

You won’t find a paywall here. Come as often as you like — we’re not counting. You’ve found a like-minded tribe that cherishes what a free press stands for.  If you can spend another couple of minutes making a pledge of as little as $5, you’ll feel like a superhero defending democracy for less than the cost of a month of Netflix.
