New Overnight Host, Garrett McQueen

GARRETT MCQUEEN

This July, there will be a new voice to keep listeners company overnight on Classical 89.7. His name is Garrett McQueen, a talented broadcaster and performer whose rich background and experience promise something fresh and unique!

In 2016, Garrett McQueen entered the world of Public Radio as the host of "The Afternoon Concert" on Knoxville's WUOT-FM, where he thrived as both a host and programmer, expanding the sonic pallet of listeners throughout East Tennessee and beyond. During his tenure there he produced interviews with some of the country's leading artists, created nationally recognized features on the intersection of race and classical music, and was even honored to guest host APM's "Performance Today."

A proud native of Memphis, TN, Garrett has performed as a bassoonist in venues across the country, including Los Angeles' Disney Hall, Detroit's Max M. Fischer Music Center, and New York's Carnegie Hall. He's been a member of the South Arkansas Symphony, Jackson Symphony, American Youth Symphony, Memphis Repertory Orchestra, the Eroica Ensemble, and most recently, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. He's also worked with many other ensembles, including the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Southeast Symphony (Los Angeles), and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
