Jay Bartos joined Nevada Public Radio in 1993 to develop and manage the state’s first radio reading service for people unable to use standard printed material due to blindness or another disability. After the reading service was discontinued in 2011, he became the afternoon host on KNPR for ten years. Jay can now be heard on air on News 88.9 KNPR and Classical 89.7 KCNV throughout the week.
Jay is a graduate of the University of South Florida and did graduate work in London while living in England for several years.
He enjoys hiking and camping throughout the west, especially the desert southwest, with a special fondness for our Great Basin National Park. He reads a lot and loves music. He doesn’t watch TV. He has volunteered at the Animal Foundation since 2016, focusing on helping cats adjust to the shelter and getting the less adoptable ones (by picky human standards) adopted. He also fosters kittens and adult cats, something his own cat only grudgingly accepts.
