I doodle, therefore I am. Always been that way — in school, my class notes were 30 percent information, 70 percent Conan the Barbarian sketches. (Somehow, that worked for me, but I wouldn't recommend it.) My cubicle at Desert Companion is snow-drifted in paper scraps covered with silly line drawings. (What's with all these drawings of brains, though?) Pretty much anything that can make a mark, I doodle with. Including the stylus of my new cell phone. I tend to shoot a lot of relatively banal photos, like the trellised patio of a Cafe Rio in Henderson, above, with the intention of scrawling something over them. In this case, using the Aviary app, I squiggled a lot of colors onto it, then erased out a swirl, just to see what would happen. This is what happened. Next time, though: a brain! — Scott Dickensheets
